Three Essential Statements

by

We’ve learned to pray daily with the following powerful statements given to us by Christ Jesus from the book of John: “I and my Father are one” (John 10: 30 ), “The Father that dwelleth in me, He doeth the works” (John 14: 10), and “The Father hath not left me alone” (John 8: 29).

How many times during the day are we tempted to feel separated from God? Perhaps a problem might suddenly come up. We might begin to feel sick or fearful. The statement “I and my Father are one” is an instant comforter. It immediately brings God’s loving control into operation. He is not a God far off in the clouds somewhere, but a “very present help in trouble.” (Ps.) You are one with Him. His presence is always with you, so there is nothing ever to fear. As Mrs. Eddy states in Science and Health, “As a drop of water is one with the ocean, a ray of light one with the sun, even so God and man, Father and son, are one in being.”

The second statement, “The Father that dwelleth in me, He doeth the works,” helps us to face every task humbly and joyfully with God. Mrs. Eddy once said she did her best healing work when she “got Mary out of the way.” When we get ourselves out of God’s way, He can accomplish great things! Let Him work in you and through you. He will show you exactly what to do, no matter how difficult the assignment! As Hymn #247 reminds us, “Ye shall not to your daily task without your God repair, but on your work His blessing ask and prove His glory there.” We can always trust God to be with us every moment of every day. His guidance and love are always at hand. Turn to Him for every answer.

And finally, “The Father hath not left me alone.” It is a great comfort to know we are never alone. God is always with us. His ever-present love surrounds us, and this love heals any loneliness we might be feeling. It fills the void with an unspeakable peace. His presence gives us all we need to live happy and contented lives, and makes our relationship with others all the more satisfying. If ever you are tempted to feel alone, remember, “God hath not left YOU alone”! (Not to mention the fact that our church members pray on your behalf every day, and we would love for you to be part of our fellowship!)

Think about these three verses as you go about your daily walk. Take them deep into your heart. They were given to us by Christ Jesus to heal and to bless. The Truth found therein will transform your life to one of joyful purpose — big time!!
