God’s Healing Presence
by Benjamin Ndukwe
A few years ago a healing happened in my home that I thought was remarkable.
When I was still in school, a friend of mine called one day to ask if she could come over to my apartment and use my computer for her assignment that was due the next day, so I invited her over. About an hour later, she called back to tell me she could not come because her son, Daniel, had fallen sick with a fever and was getting worse.
I know her son very well, and I like him a lot. He is a very good boy. I told her to come, and also to bring Daniel with her. I was living on the third floor at the time, and she had to carry him up there, as he was too weak to walk on his own. While in my apartment, I told her to lay him down on the couch in the living room and put the blanket on him. Then I told her to go ahead and do what she needed to do on the computer. I tried to make her focus her thought on that, and less on Daniel. I started praying for him, silently. I remember my friend glancing at me in disbelief, and smiling. Of course she did not understand what was taking place with her son, but she would later on.
By the time she was half done with her work, to her great surprise, Daniel was already running around the apartment, playing his favorite music. My friend was in awe. My only response to her was, “God has healed him.” Yes, God did. We can do nothing without Him. But with God, all healing is possible. And Daniel, who had been refusing food all day, joined us for dinner that evening. The mesmerism had been broken and he was completely healed. God’s healing presence is everywhere, and available every moment.
The healing reminded me of God’s ever-present love all around us, and always available when sought with an open heart. Hearts that seek and see good in the goodness of others, hearts that see God in all mankind, hearts that know no strangers — such hearts bring healing everywhere they are. This type of blessing is not limited to a certain few, all of us can experience it to some degree as we continue to seek opportunities to express God and His kindness.
