God’s Way

by

I was thinking today of different things I really wanted to happen when I was younger — and how happy I am now that each of those things did not come about!

At one point I was living in the Boston area, and I really wanted to stay there and keep working in construction. But plans changed and I moved to another town. That move gave me the opportunity to change my career and learn graphic design, which proved to be very helpful when I came here.

Another time, I really wanted to get a job closer to where my children lived, but the only job I could find was another thirty minutes away from them. But this turned out to be in a town that allowed me to strike up a friendship with someone who knew of this church, and our conversations and his contacts helped me to be ready to come here.

And finally, the first few times I used a computer were all I needed to let me know I didn’t want anything to do with them. But God kept nudging me toward them, and, of course, this was also very helpful when I came here.

It makes me laugh to think of these instances, and many others, that I am so glad didn’t work out as I had wanted — and so grateful to be able to look back through all that and see God’s hand at work, guiding me and preparing me to be ready to come here and be useful to Him.

This was wonderful for me to see. It taught me that we may not know what God’s plan is, but that His plan is always better than anything we could imagine for ourselves.

What a joy it is to be a member of this church, and to be here. There is no place like this!
