Feeling God’s Presence

by

When I first found Plainfield, I felt hopeless and in despair. I had turned down many dead ends and longed to feel God’s presence.

I desired the calmness that others clearly possessed at this church. When members shared their experiences and how they put spiritual tools to use in their lives, I listened closely and worked to apply them to my situation. The love, joy, and hope expressed at this church are felt around the world.

Here are some things I heard: Put God first; attend or listen to the classes; share your gratitude for God’s blessings in your life during Wednesday testimony meetings; work step by step on Biblical precepts; be grateful, read and listen to the early worker literature available on the Plainfield website; read the Bible, Science and Health, and Prose Works every day; do something for others. All this took the focus off myself and put it on the things of God.

Gradually, I took each of these instructions and began to see healing and real changes in my life, and I found true purpose. I began to see my life was more than a string of days to be survived. Problems did not disappear, but now, I had resources that helped me to deal with even the most difficult situations. I came to see that, with God, I can face each day and even grow as I do.
