Our Duty to Mankind
by Florence Roberts
With his love and dedication to the Truth of God's Allness, Christ Jesus freed men from every ill, proving man's dominion, as a gift given to all by our Father-Mother, God. This was lost since our Master's time. Now through our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who took up the cross and lived the Saviour's example of a giving life, calls every man, woman, and child to follow the same example and live as though we are the children of Him who has all power, in order that all men may learn who they really are.
With even the smallest truth of God’s supremacy that we each understand, we can use these liberating truths, and prove our own freedom from the oppression of sin, sickness, and death. God made all His children free, as Mrs. Eddy proved in her own life, and taught many to do the same.
Mrs. Eddy wrote in Miscellany (pg. 165:16-22), “As an active portion of one stupendous whole, goodness identifies man with universal good. Thus may each member of this church rise above the oft-repeated inquiry, What am I? to the scientific response: I am able to impart truth, health, and happiness, and this is my rock of salvation and my reason for existing.”
May we also live this giving life, which loves and blesses one another, so that we too can answer when asked, “what am I?” with what Mrs. Eddy says above. That must be our greatest duty to mankind, and it is blessed!
