Undefeatable Career

From Lectures on Christian Science by

You may fear that the injustice of others can defeat that purpose, can keep from you the good things God has prepared. Nothing of the sort really can happen. Not even your own folly can indefinitely postpone the destiny the Eternal plans for you as you “press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

You remember the morning Jesus was brought before Pilate, charged with making himself king. At one point in the trial, where he refused to talk, Pilate said to him: “Speakest thou not unto me? Knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee and have power to release thee?” “Thou couldest have no power at all against me,” answered Jesus, “except it were given thee from above.”

Then Pilate delivered him to his accusers and he was executed. But presently Jesus was back alive the same man he was before. How little the conspiracy accomplished except to speed and glorify the career of that amazing man. There was not power enough in the clamorous rabble or even in the Roman government to defeat the purpose the Almighty had for His son.

There is no circumstance, no injustice, no power in this world to defeat the purpose God has for you if you make the right choice and stay resolutely with it. And life is still before you.

Perfect God and Perfect Man

God is Life, and Life is everywhere; then where is man? As Paul described it, God is in you and above you and through you all. “In Him we live and move and have our being.” When you read about this perfect man, who is the image and reflection of the Creator, do you see it as your own biography? If you don’t see this, you miss the point. There is no place for men to remain but to abide in Life.

You cannot get away from Life and nothing remains for you to do but express and manifest this unconquerable Life. This Life knows no disease, trouble, danger, no beginning and no ending. God is Life; your Life, is in you, through you, and it is ageless, diseaseless, endless. It is right where your distress seems to be so after all your distress cannot really be there.

God is Life and man is Life expressed and made individual; you cannot see God or Life only as it is manifested in living creatures. You cannot see it in the abstract. God makes Himself visible in the world, and man and woman furnish the opportunity for God to express His Life. God, without man to reflect Him, would be a non-entity. He needs man to make Himself visible. He would be without expression without man to reflect Him. Man is Life expressed. How close you are to God – for God is Life and you are life (expressed).

God is perfect Life and Intelligence. He is diseaseless, ageless, free, whole, endless, and so are you. This is the basis of Christian Science. Thinking these thoughts is a treatment, for you cannot contemplate these facts for a moment without bringing to yourself a degree of health and harmony. This is praying, and such thinking will heal your disease, because disease is mental.

The body itself is mental. Does it not tell you when it is comfortable? The mind is your upper layer, and the body is the lower, but both are parts of mentality, and you cannot touch one without touching the other. You know that your body responds to your moods and actions. When you are happy and confident, it is normal and free; when you are fearful, it shrinks and shrivels. Body and mind are parts of mentality; transformation of mind inevitably results in changing the body. If God is Mind, or Spirit, then man and the world are spiritual consciousness, and no danger or obstruction can ever come to thought. Thought is not localized. You may be this instant here, or a thousand miles from here at the same time. You are Intelligence. How can you be weary, discouraged, old? If you feel that way, you are mesmerized, deceived.

How can I help myself? Tell yourself that you are the temple of the living God, the temple of health, strength, freedom, buoyancy, confidence. You are the place where Eternal Life is finding expression. I am eternal Life expressed. I am the place where all-knowing Mind is, diffusing intelligence, giving me ability to use it in the world and be a success.

You are always talking to yourself, and most of the time you are saying what is not true – how old you are getting, what a failure you are, how discouraged you are, how sick you feel. Every time you say or think one of these thoughts, you add to the mesmerism. You would not make another man have any of these things, and surely God would not. Stop telling yourself these lies. Refuse to argue and think this way, for every time you do, you impress on your own consciousness that which will work against your welfare.

God has not made this world of weariness, sickness, depression, and you are not deceived by it. Pour into yourself the Truth about yourself, and this is treatment. God is in full and unobstructed operation in me. Therefore, let all distress be silent before Him. Keep talking this way all the time. Give your thinking intelligent direction. Stop this stuff about failure, disease, lack, etc. Get the habit of talking to yourself and it will heal you. All is yours, and He withholds no good things. His Life is your Life. His bounty is your bounty. His intelligence is your intelligence. Say it, affirm it, admit it, and stop denying it and denying your own good. The effect of prayer is on the one who prays. This is where the change needs to be – not in God. This right sort of talking and thinking will change you. It will bring you into unity with God and eternal Life, where disease and suffering are unknown. It will enlarge your capacity for doing things, clarify your intellect and make you a man.

As you hold to these truths they will heal you of whatever is wrong in your life, and when the need is pressing, it will heal you immediately. Often the healing will go on gradually as you learn to talk to yourself intelligently. You are consciousness and not body. Consciousness needs an instrument to contact this crude world we seem to be in now, so consciousness evolves this body and holds it in thought. You direct your body and use it as your means of identity, at present, but it is not you. If consciousness is fearful or confused, this body is likely to be sickly. If consciousness is free, this body will be normal. As you realize that life is God, therefore lack, disease, and death are not true, that you are Eternal Life made visible in the world, and that you are a God-like man, these thoughts will build you a better body, a better intellect and a better business.

You are the individual consciousness of God. You tell your body what to do; it serves you like an office boy doing the chores, and your intelligence serves you like a secretary, but the body is not you. You are the power of endless Life. It is fear that has been freezing up your life, paralyzing your energy and ability to do, and this fear comes from material thinking, judging from appearance and not according to spiritual facts. Life is Divine Principle, and this perfect Mind is controlling the nerves and all organs of the body in harmony and freedom. “The Divine Mind, which forms the bud and blossom, will care for the human body, even as it clothes the lily; but let no mortal interfere with God’s government by thrusting in the laws of erring, human concepts.” (S&H p 62) When are you going to begin to think constructively? You have the choice to do this now.

Consciousness will build you a better world, a better job, a better career, as you think true thoughts. You will begin to see the world as it is; a place of security, beauty, opportunity, life abundant, instead of danger, disease and misery. I am conscious of Life abundant and perfect. When fear is broken, disease as inflammation or growth will disappear, for the body is released.

When confidence has replaced the fear, the body will thaw out. This material world and all its danger are material and untrue. You are immune to danger, disease, and death. When you see these truths and reason them out for yourself, then you will have what Jesus said was the Truth, and the Truth will make you free. Free from what? Why, from danger, limitation and ignorance.

When you see that you are spiritual throughout, the material world will recede and reality appears, the actual world where danger will not find you. When I say this material world will pass away, I do not mean anything will pass but the wrong, distorted, heavy sense of the world, and the true sense will take its place in forms of beauty and perfection all around you, and we shall see the world as God sees it, absolutely good. There will be no vacuum. When we realize inharmony is unreal, this will bring objects and things into human view in their true light, and reveal them as harmonious and eternal. If you seem to have disease, when you recognize that you are spiritual, mental, you will see the impossibility of that growth, either as slight or serious. If you suspend thought for one moment, you will leave your disease here and go free. Can spiritual man have a growth? You can find no place to put it. The consciousness that tells you solid objects, or objects that are called solid, are dangerous, is deceptive and untrue. “The wind bloweth where it listeth, and you cannot tell where it goes or wither it comes,” to everyone that is born of the spirit, he is invisible, spiritual substance, free to come and go unobstructed and unhindered like the wind.

You never were born and you will never die. Can you remember your birth? No, because you always have been. You are as old as God, and never had a material birth. That was a dream, and you will never experience death any more than you did birth. Consciousness can never be put in a grave. It would not stand for it. Only your material sense of things buries the body, but consciousness escapes the grave and builds itself another body – a finer one more suited to the new environment. The departed rise right up and a new body springs forth. They have merely turned the corner and go up a broader road and we do not see them because we are blinded by fear and false belief; but as we do this better thinking we will develop a vision to see the world as it is, where there is no death, disease, or separation. Consciousness preceded birth; it will live after death. We have already had many bodies, a new one every year, so why should it be impossible to have more bodies after this one becomes invisible!

The sublimest and most effective prayer is this: “Father, give me the glory I had with Thee before this mesmerism enveloped me.” Know then that you possess sovereign power to think and act rightly, and that nothing can dispossess you of this heritage and trespass on Love. If you maintain this position, who or what can cause you to sin or suffer?” (Pulpit & Press p3)

Every time you voice the Truth, you are breaking this mesmerism, and stepping out into the power of endless Life. Refuse to argue anymore for sickness, lack, death, trouble, danger, failure, pain, discouragement, weariness, etc., but for the fact that Life is God, health, strength, harmony, endurance, safety, ageless, deathless being. Pour these truths into your consciousness daily and hourly. They will heal you, develop your capacity to be a success, clarify your vision and you will walk this earth a free man, dignified, unafraid, confident and fearless.

All the trouble you see and hear in the world is false thinking and its effects. It is not real or true, but you have not been educated how to think according to facts, and so have the habit of wrong thinking, which in turn brings the bad experiences. Watch your thoughts for one day and you will see a tendency to adverse thoughts, about others and yourself also. Make a job of correcting these error thoughts with true thoughts, and you will heal yourself, your affairs and your whole life will change in proportion that your thinking changes. There is no other way to be saved, and no one else can do your thinking for you. God has a perfect plan and purpose for each one of His creatures, a right opportunity, and nothing can change this.

So do not dread the future, but expect it to be good. If you will take your position as the Son of God and defend it against all suggestions to the contrary, firmly insisting on your divine right to freedom, peace and plenty, then Mind will give you a finer and more wonderful work and opportunity, with the labor and turmoil out of it.

WHAT YOU THINK IS THE IMPORTANT THING!

The Challenge to Defeatism

From Lectures on Christian Science by

We are not helpless in the confusion and turmoil of the times. We have the capacity to extinguish, noiselessly and finally, the fanatical influences bent on upsetting industry and government, and society itself. The totalitarians assume that this period of decadence has arrived. They reckon that the hour has struck for demolishing democratic and Christian civilization.

Sound idealism recognizes that the loss of social, political, or economic freedom jeopardizes spiritual freedom. Hence it is that the Christian is never an appeaser or compromiser when liberty is at stake. Our weapon is of the sort that these inimical influences cannot see or cope with. Our weapon is the truth that Principle governs in all times and in all places, making unprincipled forces of none effect. “The Lord shall have them in derision.”

The leaders in labor, in business, in government must learn that God directs the affairs of men. He rules there today, just as He has always done, regardless of the apparent rule of selfishness, strife, and oppression. “He disappointeth the devices of the crafty.” There is no other government than His. Ultimately this government will be seen to prevail.

Militant materialism, destitute of rationality, must go down in confusion and defeat when challenged by the normal and spiritual forces of Christian Science. “The Lord God omnipotent reigneth” is not sounding brass. Neither is the assurance, “He disappointeth the devices of the crafty.” The Bible promises are kept, because they are more than promises, they are undefeatable facts.

Every individual should fervently pray that his nation proceed wisely and swiftly in the crisis. Each day he should set aside time to realize: “God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved.” This prayer should extend to insisting that men and women in places of responsibility will have the courage and resourcefulness to play their part in the world drama.

The forces of evil carry within themselves the seeds of their own destruction. They have no intelligence. They border on lunacy. We should say and know these things, consistently and expectantly. The truth thereby released will not return void. It is the word of God which accomplishes that whereunto it is sent.

Man Lives On Indefinitely

From Lectures on Christian Science by

Man cannot help but live on and on indefinitely, for he is made up of imperishable elements. Look within yourself; look into consciousness. What do you find? Honesty, purpose, resolution, and an innumerable host of spiritual qualities. Take any one of them — honesty, for example. Can honesty have a collision? Can it be gassed or inflamed or extinguished? Can any spiritual quality suffer accident or pain? Can it experience birth, decay, dissolution? Manifestly not. Then man, as a compound of spiritual qualities, cannot suffer or experience such conditions.

Why not hold to these obvious truths, and reject the false consciousness of disease, accident, physical birth, age, and extinction? Spiritual man, and there is no other, has not fallen; he cannot fall with the everlasting arms of Principle underneath. Your genuine self has not left heaven for earth. It is no more than a dream that you have been born into a realm of danger and destruction.

One of the first steps toward overcoming the belief of death, is to overcome the belief of physical birth. So long as one entertains the belief that he has been ushered into this vale of tears, he can hardly hope to escape being ushered out of it. Indeed, one can scarcely expect to gain permanent immunity from sickness and accident, as long as he indulges the supposition that he has come into and inhabits a world of lawlessness and contagion.

When Jesus declares, “I came forth from the Father and am come into the world; again I leave the world and go to the Father,” he declares a universal truth, which every individual would do well to apply to himself. You have never left the abode of safety, the presence of God; your real self never has. Hence the groundlessness of fear.

When you intelligently claim your present sonship with the Eternal, you begin to awake to the man of His creating, and the tottering mortal that physical sense proclaims begins to dissolve and fade out. Then you begin to find in yourself the health and strength and ability the Almighty equips you with. If you are not trying to realize that your true self always has lived and always will live as a tangible witness to imperishable Life, and therefore that birth and death are alike impostors, you are failing to utilize one of the fundamental truths of Christianity. In other words you are not making your practice or treatment as searching and dynamic as you might.

Overthrowing the fear of disease and establishing confidence in place thereof is a fundamental feature of Christian Science treatment. The soundness of this practice is apparent when we remember that the human mentality and body are so intimately related that actually they are one. Therefore, when the individual is half-frozen with fear — and this is the usual condition of mortals — inaction or overaction in the body is inevitable. When, in place of the sense of fear, a sense of safety is established, the body will function as it should.

Liquidation of Poundage

Keep in thought that active Principle operates throughout your being. This compels all the functions of your economy to behave. Hence, they can neither unduly deplete nor unduly augment your stature. Do not forget that the lines are fallen to you in undeviating comeliness. In other words, you are duly proportioned—and that right now. Certainly the avoirdupois will fall away. It is mental, is it not? Therefore, keep reminding yourself how queenly you are. This is a dynamic truth, and the truth, when declared, is like the atomic bomb, it vaporizes the error.

Just the other day a woman wrote me of having a short lip elongated while listening to my lecture. Encouraged by this experience, she reasoned with herself about overweight, and was delighted to find her figure reduced. The fact is that woman is shapely and comely. She weighs neither too much nor too little. She is neither too tall nor too short. The temple of the living God cannot be less than perfect in outline, can it?

Well, if you cannot resist over-eating, try resisting the belief that eating will increase your weight. You see, it is your belief in the matter that works the mischief. Anyhow, the usual appetite will subside when you recognize that the Almighty is in the midst, controlling all your desires, emotions, thoughts, and functions. You know He is so very close to you that He and you are one, which insures that you can be as sensible and well-disciplined as He is, and that you can no more lose your form divinely fair than can He. Yes, you two are one. He is in you, and you are in Him, all of which spells annihilation to everything opposed to your good looks. Now, without any doubt, when Mind and Life sally forth in you, they do a very good job, that is, they build you neither too large nor too small, but just about right,–comely and easy to look at, most certainly. They give you all the courage and ability you need for making a good impression in the community and for carving out a suitable career.

The master Architect who built you insured His work—guaranteed that it would not swell or warp or in any way get out of line. So the undeniable fact is that you are in perfect trim now, uniform and balanced, not to heavy and yet not too thin.

The Maker constructed you in perfection and insured His work for an indefinite period. This goes for your faculties of sight and hearing. This goes for your, what you call your figure. He made you unalterably symmetrical, and unalterably unimpairable. Spirit does your seeing and controls your contour. You are directly under omnipotent command and enlightenment.

The heaviness will be liquidated one of these days, and without too much struggle. As your thought becomes clarified, consciousness will form a prepossessing body. It is a case of, “O Life that maketh all things new.” You ask where Principle is. It is in you. You are a perfect blend with it. You and Principle are one. Hence, your power to control situations.

You may be sure that the Creator not only gave you a comely form, but protected it against any subsequent encroachment. You see, there is an undeviating law; indeed, He is the law itself, which not only fashions you in just measure, but forever after holds you there. So keep in mind that you are well-made, well-conditioned and well-proportioned.

There is no power anywhere to interfere with that fine structure of yours by adding a single unnecessary pound. Now, get busy in your own behalf. Think out the above truths and elaborate them. Talk them to yourself hour by hour and day by day. Expect results.

Exit Matter

by

So you weary of the endless and for the most part meaningless argument about the unreality of matter. Well, the issue has been wrestled with and disposed of by the keen thinkers of every age. They tell us that matter is a misunderstanding of substance. With keener vision, they promise, we will discover that Spirit and matter are but different aspects of reality, the one true, the other false. Enlightenment therefore will terminate the debate and bring into view the exclusiveness, the substantiality, the permanence of Spirit.

Everyone concedes that matter is not the hard, heavy, static stuff it appears. Some speak of it as energy and others as mortal mind. In either case it is motion so slowed down as to become visible. It is the way realities appear to inadequate physical sense.

What we call matter then is mental. It is a limited sense of things—a sense of things as crude, dense, expendable. In this misunderstanding lie all restriction and suffering. Whereas Spirit is unrestricted, imponderable, impalpable, and permanent. In this actuality lies the truth which makes men free.

Faith, hope, charity, and with them the innumerable other spirituals, abide, do they not? While doubt, turmoil, infirmity, and with them the other hosts of clay, disintegrate and disappear with the march of time.

Some people think of the Creator as a person, ever-present and unlimited of course. Others think of Him as Spirit. But there is no essential difference, perhaps, between Spirit and infinite Person. Both are omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient—the commonly accepted measure of Deity.

You will be interested here in the reasoning of Abraham Rihbany: “Whether God is personal or not depends upon our knowledge of what personality is. If we mean by a person an individual of bounded dimensions (an erroneous conception of personality), then God is not personal. But if personality is self-conscious being, with all its attributes of intelligence, will, emotions, and purpose—finite in man, infinite in God—then God is personal … To me God is personal in the truest sense of the word.”

Venturesome William Blake puts forth the assurance: “If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is, infinite.”

While Walt Whitman, with his usual optimism, boldly affirms: “I do not doubt I am limitless, and that the universes are limitless, in vain I try to think how limitless.”

When we concede that the Creator is Spirit, logic immediately insists that creation must be spiritual. If human sense, on the contrary, sees a material universe, we have a right to suspect that human sense entertains a wrong concept of things. This mistaken concept is all there is to matter, and it is the purpose of idealism to change and correct that concept in order, not that things shall be destroyed, but that they shall be discerned in their true light.

To change from a material to a spiritual concept of the universe does not destroy the universe, nor anything in it, but it makes the universe, and all contained therein, more real, permanent, and beautiful. To exchange the physical idea of man for the spiritual does not put man out of existence, but brings into view his real selfhood as perfect and immortal.

It is this man, and really there is no other, that we affirm is immune to disease and the other ravages of materiality and mortality. When you insist, from year to year, that you are this sort of man, the heaviness and afflictions of so-called mortal existence will recede. Eventually they will fade out under the blaze of intelligent thinking.

At first thought the unreality of matter may have little point to the man in pain. Someone may smartly say to him: “The body, you know, is made of the same elements that a wagon wheel is made of. How then can it tire or hurt? Indeed the body is matter and matter is not, so you have no body anyway.”

Now no one, whether at ease or in distress, wants to be rid of his body. What he wants is a better body than the one he appears to have, a body in rapport with good health and all that that implies. He would like to know how to obtain it.

The body is a human concept. It is therefore mental. This is why it rises or falls with the individual’s thought. Accurate and generous thinking therefore is the source of the ideal body which neither hurts, hampers, nor boasts. Improve your thinking and you improve your body, indeed your whole being. Put emphasis steadfastly on the salubrious, the imperishable, the beautiful, the magnanimous; in the same instant rejecting the sickly, the fearsome, the oppressive, the mean. In this mood you live in Spirit and Spirit lives in you. This looks toward the millennium.

When it is recognized that the human body is essentially mental, it becomes at once apparent that a change in thought effects a change in the body, and this even to the extent of what we call a physical or structural change in some organ or member.

This is precisely what metaphysics is accomplishing in its healing ministry. By substituting in consciousness an understanding of health in place of a belief in sickness, a knowledge of soundness instead of an illusion of decomposition, a realization of symmetry in lieu of a supposition of deformity, metaphysics is bringing about an improvement in health, not to mention morale. Hence it is that metaphysics takes the radical position that matter is unreal, and if it did less, metaphysics would have little to offer beyond what already has been offered in the way of relief for suffering humanity.

“Personal Sense a Perjurer” excerpt

by

Symptoms of disease are well defined as perjurers. Now a perjurer is not an ordinary liar. He is a crafty, calculating liar. Some call him personal sense or mortal mind or what have you.

He is a liar and the father of lies. Liars and lies and obsessions all belong in that supposititious world — the wild world of unreality. So those things and conditions which we regard as existent in the unreal or supposititious realm are nowhere. No one knows anything about them. No one experiences them.

Disease does not have to be destroyed or eradicated. The whole curative process is a process of enlightenment — a mode of thinking, a clarity of consciousness, which knows nothing about sickness and mortality.

There are not two worlds; there are not two minds; there are not two lives; there are not two kinds of men; but one God, one Mind, one Life, one kind of man. And that man knows nothing of disease and never has known anything of it, because he is the expression or outcropping of that self-existent Life which is whole and sound.

Man can know nothing of mortality, for the simple reason that he is a man. He does not know anything about stripes because he is not a zebra.

There is only one world and it is a glorious place of plenty and security and joyousness. And there is only one Mind and it knows only those things of Life abundant. There is only one Life and that a jealous Life, which covers the whole ground and insists upon its rights, its privileges, its immunities.

Error is not even a perjurer. It is non-existent. We must take a radical stand and persist in it expectantly. This takes courage of course. But you have courage. Courage is one of man’s outstanding qualities.

Here alertness comes into play. But you have alertness. Remember the zebra and the gnu. The gnu has a keen scent for lions. He does not permit the king of beasts to sneak up and crouch for a spring. He charges him while yet afar off and bowls him over. Whereas the fat, sleepy zebra falls an easy prey. Hence he wisely fraternizes with the homely gnu and enjoys the protection of the gnu’s superior vigilance.

Lurking dangers, whether disease or whatnot, are inherently cowards. All you and I need to do, and it is considerable, is to detect their approach and to assume a determined aggressiveness, never letting up until they are driven back into their native jungle of nothingness.

In the realm of reality there is no such thing as disease. No such thing as age. No such thing as mortality. Mind unconfused cannot conceive such things; cannot feel or experience them. We have only to let God’s thoughts be in us. Then instead of seeing things in a limited, distorted, or sickly condition, we shall see them as they are in their fullness and resplendency.

We are looking right at them this moment. You are contemplating yourself right now in all the beauty of being. You are not becoming. You have arrived. …

“Christian Science: What it is and how it works” – excerpt

by

God is Spirit and man must be like his creator. Certainly no one in this enlightened age would contend that Deity is corporeal, for this would amount to a denial of His omnipresence. Tradition says that when the Roman legions entered Jerusalem, Pompey, their commander, striding through the temple, tore aside the curtain from the Holy of Holies, intent on viewing the Hebrew God. He had expected, presumably, to find a magnificent image or statue. He found — nothing that the eye can discern. He stood face to face with the sublime conception of God invisible.

Less than a century afterward Jesus, conversing with the Samaritan woman at the well, defined the unseen God as Spirit. In our own times Mrs. Eddy has more definitely proclaimed Him Mind, Life, Love, Principle.

This concept of Deity is not only in conformity with Scripture but it satisfies reason and silences the unbeliever. For no one supposes that things just happen without cause or direction. There is law, intelligence, purpose underlying and directing all things. And the universal Mind, Life, Love and Principle, underlying, animating, and directing all things is God; and man is God’s noblest witness or expression.

“The Alibi Styled Age” – an excerpt

by

Once have I heard, indeed twice, someone say something about getting old. And it just makes me indignant. It is the most stupendous lie anybody can utter, the most ruinous, and the lie the devil best likes one to tell.

If you said it to anybody else you would be in immediate danger of the judgment. Well, you are in the same danger when you say it to yourself. So stop it. Refuse to accept its symptoms, and above all refuse to believe that anyone else can see or accept them. How in the world could he see them when looking at an exhibition of imperishable Life?

Life is imperishable. It is your life we are talking about now. This means that Life has no beginning, no ending, no danger, no disease, no age. Say this once in a while, having your own life in mind. You know you do not have much to do except to say things. Choose to say wise things and true.

If Life knew any diseases it could not be everlasting. If Life could slacken or experience any obstruction in its functions, it would eventually come to an end. But it can not end. It is perpetually and irresistibly in operation in you.

Harsh Noises of the Day

by

Each individual can do something, in these apparently troublesome times, to steady the situation. He can insist that the Lord God omnipotent reigns, which is another way of saying that Principle governs the world, governs the nations, governs business and industry, governs man and his affairs; making of none effect unprincipled forces which would seek to upset society, precipitate nations in strife, wreck businesses and economy, or otherwise interfere with man’s well-being.

It is time one should face these devastating influences, not in alarm or with concern, but with the assurance that they are powerless to defeat God’s wholly good destiny for humanity. Amidst the harsh noises of the day, every individual may, with the aid of Science, walk the earth in dignity and in confidence.

Love is the liberator.
