God’s idea of us is the only idea we can have of ourselves. The only way to get at anyone is to get at them through God. Man is simply the idea of God individualized; so this spiritual idea forgives our sins and heals our diseases by our becoming this idea. To be tempted is no sin. The sin is in yielding to temptation, believing the suggestions of error as true and acting accordingly. Yielding to sin robs man of the ever-presence and omnipotence of good. Resisting temptation increases power and strength. As you are being tried and tempted, just remember the joy and satisfaction of doing right.

I often wondered what caused Mrs. Eddy to title a Lesson Sermon, “Everlasting Punishment.” Then I saw her great wisdom. The world believes in a God of wrath, old theology teaches it — vengeance and punishment for misdeeds. Listening carefully to God, Mrs. Eddy gave us this Lesson, of which the real title is, “Everlasting Love.”
